The hair loss patient is often concerned about his receding hairline. When looking for solutions, they often are short on research, and the doctors that like to perform the strip type of hair transplant often do not do a very good job of explaining the pros and cons of the procedure. The appearance and effect of the strip scar is often minimized and terms like paper thin scars are thrown around during consultation. The patient is either not informed or chooses not to recognize the possibility of widening of the scar and the life long inconveniences it portends. On the flip side, keeping a long dense side and back maximizes the appearance of baldness on the top and the patient is thus forced to require even more and more hair transplants to add density to the top in an attempt to match the density on the side and back of the head.
