In this case Dr. Umar uses his Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer (SFET) method of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedure to refine and advance a NW3 case using 3200 grafts derived from the head donor area and nape to create a soft natural hairline and restore him from NW 3 to a state of zero appearance of baldness.
The patient in this video is NW 4-5. He wished to have his hairline and balding areas of NW 4 restored. He received 3500 grafts to achieve the result in the video. Results are shown at 7 months after knife-free hair transplantation using head and nape hair.
In this video, Dr. Umar uses Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer (SFET), his version of the FUE technique, to repair the hair transplant problems that resulted from a Juri Flap procedure that the patient had undergone several years ago.
Flap surgeries for the purpose of hair restoration and hair replacement have largely fallen out of favor with the advent of the follicular unit hair transplantation method. The Juri flap operation relocates large areas of dense, growing hair. Problems associated with the results of these surgeries are mostly found in the aesthetics of the hairline. Commonly, the hairline is too straight, defined by a scar, a backward directed hair angle, and abnormally blunted temporal recesses. The sharp hairline makes an unnatural transition from the hairline to the temple points and the hairline symmetry is too abrupt and abnormal. The Juri flap causes the hair to point in the wrong direction (to the sides and backwards) and when balding progresses, it leaves a big hole in the balding area, which makes it hard to conceal.
In this case Dr. Umar uses his Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer (SFET) method of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedure to perform BHT. He refines and advances a NW2 case using 1850 grafts.
The technique by which Dr. Umar transplants beard hair, SFET, is his protocol for the procedure commonly referred to as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Fortunately, this method enables the transplantation of body and facial hair (BHT) as well as head hair, which increases the donor hair supply and thus gives hope for many severely bald patients in need of hair transplant repair or additional hair transplants.
