For half a decade, Dr. Umar has repaired many cases that previously were believed to be hopeless. These patients with poor hair transplant results have had procedures performed decades ago when advanced options for hair restoration were unavailable. Dr. Umar performs these repairs using the Body Hair Transplant (BHT) hair restoration technique, which offers hope for many patients with extremely poor cosmetic results and have no significant amount of scalp hair available for reparative work. BHT involves the transplantation of non-scalp body and beard hair to balding areas of the head. Therefore, even severely bald individuals with extremely poor hair surgery outcomes and a depletion of traditional scalp donor hair can achieve a cosmetically acceptable restoration.
This is a repair work was done by using solely body and beard hair. The patient's unfortunate hair surgery outcome resulted from multiple old fashioned and traditional hair surgeries, and thus the patient was left with extensive scarring, decimated head donor, plugging and advanced baldness. Consequently, his only option was to resort to wearing a hair piece, also known as a wig or toupee. However, his receded temple points and the absence of the hairline made the hairpiece noticeably obvious. He wanted a natural hairline to precede the hairpiece and wanted his temple points built to sync with his hair piece. Most importantly, the patient wanted the extent of his baldness reduced in the margins and also wanted the punch style excision scars in his donor area covered with hair. However, the patient had no donor hair left for these procedures to be in effect.
Dr Umar used body hair achieve this patient's hair restoration and repair. By using the technique known as body hair transplant (BHT), Dr. Umar was able to use only the patient's chest, stomach, and beard hair to accomplish a superior and natural looking repair. With the BHT technique and his expertise, Dr. Umar has given hope to many patients who had lost hope in ever restoring their hair or repairing a bad surgery.
In this video, Dr. Umar performs the first well documented case in the history of hair transplantation in which leg hair is used to soften the hairline of the head. The patient in this video is an indexed case of body hair transplantation (BHT). He has had multiple hair transplantations using older techniques, but by the nature of these traditional techniques and the type of donor hair used, the hairline was very harsh looking before the patient underwent the SFET technique with Dr. Umar. In other words, hairlines created from traditional transplants tend to possess a harsh straight line appearance because the hair derived from traditional donor areas are typically thick even if they are single hairs. However, with the advent and possibility of using body hair for hair transplantation, hairlines can now be softer and more natural looking with the fine body hairs used. For this patient, Dr. Umar utilized his leg hairs and 1000 grafts in 2 years to refine and create a very natural and subtle hairline.
At the time of shooting this video, this patient remains the worst hair transplant repair case ever completed successfully. This video highlights his transformation at 36 months after his initial repair work performed by Dr. Umar in Los Angeles. Part 3/3 of the patient's video series.
