The patient presented in this video had prior strip surgery at another facility by another hair transplant doctor. After the procedure at the other hair transplant clinic, his hair loss was compounded and actually made worse by a huge strip scar, and a pluggy and straight hairline which looked unnatural, especially when grown out. At the time of the patient's initial consultation with Dr Umar in Los Angeles, his NW 6 area needed coverage, he needed density added to the previously transplanted area, and he needed his largely empty crown filled. The patient wanted his large strip scar to be grafted and his hairline changed to resemble the hairline of a celebrity in a picture he had.
To perform this hair transplant repair surgery, Dr. Umar utilized a body hair transplantation (BHT) procedure, which allowed the doctor to take donor hair from the non-head hair areas of the beard, leg hair, and nape. The recipient areas that used the leg hairs included the hairline and NW 6 area. The NW 6 area and the scar used the beard hairs for restoration, and the NW 6 area also used nape hair.
This video shows a patient who had a hair transplant repair done by Dr. Umar. His repair work was done by using solely body and beard hair. His unfortunate hair surgery outcome resulted from multiple old fashioned and traditional hair surgeries, and thus the patient was left with extensive scarring, decimated head donor, plugging and advanced baldness. Consequently, his only option was to resort to wearing a hair piece, also known as a wig or toupee. However, his receded temple points and the absence of the hairline made the hairpiece noticeably obvious. He wanted a natural hairline to precede the hairpiece and wanted his temple points built to sync with his hair piece. Most importantly, the patient wanted the extent of his baldness reduced in the margins and also wanted the punch style excision scars in his donor area covered with hair.
However, the patient had no donor hair left for these procedures to be in effect. Dr Umar used body hair achieve this patient's hair restoration and repair. With BHT, Dr. Umar was able to use only the patient's chest, stomach, and beard hair to accomplish a superior and natural looking repair.
In this example, Dr. Sanusi Umar uses Beard, Nape and Head hair by is SFET method to restore and refine a poor hair transplant result the patient had received from another clinic. Dr Umar uses non head hair (facial, body) in patients that have a relative or absolute lack of traditional donor sources ( back of the head). The use of body hair for transplantation is called body hair transplantation (BHT)
Problems associated with these Juri Flap surgeries are mostly found in the esthetics of the hairline. Commonly, the hairline is too straight, defined necessarily by a scar, a backwardly directed hair angle and abnormally blunted temporal recesses.
In this video, Dr Umar uses his FUE technique (Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer --SFET) to solve the aforementioned problems in a patient that had undergone Juri flap procedure several years prior.
