Hair transplants are usually performed to mimic the characteristics of a NW 2 hairline. NW 2 means that the hairline has thinned somewhat already but still looks natural. The front of a thinning hairline should be very soft, and this softness is rarely achievable by using traditional head donor hair, which are usually thicker and less ideal for the task even if they are single hair follicles, and thus they tend to create an artificial solid line of hair which could look harsh and artificial in real life.
