Q. Why is it a bad idea to take asprin and minoxidil together?
Both Aspirin and Minoxidil have opposite effects on blood vessels. Asprin works to help minimize inflammation by constricting the blood vessels. Minoxidil works by enlarging the blood vessels. This enables the hair follicles to receive large amounts of oxygen and nutrients which help them become more resilient against the detrimental effects of DHT.

Therefore, the use of aspirin and minoxidil together may potentially inhibit hair restoration functions .  Patients should therefore be aware of these effects. However, there is a caveat in the sense that the mechanism of minoxidil action in hair growth is not exclusively attributed to its vasodilatory effect. In fact that it is connected to vasodilation is debatable. It is also possible that minoxidil has  a direct DNA stimulatory effect, in which case the use of aspirin or other anti inflammatory agents may not have any effect on the function of minoxidil when it comes to hair loss treatment. Additionally, patients must not discontinue aspirin if it is taken for cardiovascular indications on the basis of a doubtful effect on the activity of minoxidil. When in doubt, it is always a good idea to check with a doctor, even when using an over the counter hair restoration drug like Rogaine.

combining aspirin and minoxidil may or may not affect hair function
Rogaine is a hair loss medication that can be applied topically to increase blood flow to the scalp and help reduce the extent of hair loss.
