Rogaine foam is a newer product version. It was developed because:
- A lot of people dislike the greasy feel of the original liquid formulation. Aesthetically, it has the advantage of a drier look.
- Most of the irritant reactions to the use of Rogaine have been attributed to the additive propylene glycol ( PG )which is found in the solution form. The foam of Rogaine does not contain the propylene glycol additive. For this reason less people would have an negative reaction to Rogaine foam compared with Rogaine solution.
Rogaine Foam Vs. Rogaine Liquid
However, Rogaine solution content of propylene glycol is advantageous because PG enhances the skin’s permeability. By achieving this, it becomes easier for the Minoxidil to actually reach well below the surface to produce changes in both the hair follicles and the surrounding blood vessels. Therefore, this can help enhance hair restoration results
Rogaine liquid does have propylene glycol which can help more of the active compound to reach its targets. However, propylene glycol is recognized as a moderate form of toxin.
