Hair transplant surgeries in stages – Pros
Some patients may prefer this approach for hair transplant procedures , as it may feel less traumatic. For those who have had negative experiences from past procedures, this can be an option to consider as a more tentative process instead of “risking” it all at once. The amount of scabbing and visible wounds would certainly be greatly reduced at 2000 compared to 15,000. And this might be easier for the patient
to cope with emotionally.
Hair transplant surgeries in stages – Cons
Doing hair transplant surgery in stages instead of all at once has its disadvantages. These include:
- Having to go through more than one pre-surgical preparation processes
- Having to take time off from work and travel for surgery for each surgery stage
- Having to go through multiple downtimes
- Each hair transplant surgery outcome requires 10-18 months to fully manifest, for this reason the entire process would take a loner time to fully complete if the surgery is broken down into several stages
Elaborating on the downtime involved if surgery is done in stages : The healing time frames can be expected to follow the average norms for each stage of surgerysurgery sessions. So the recipient area where the grafts were inserted will take between 7-14 days for the scabs to go away. And the donor area where the follicles were extracted will take 7-10 days for the scabbing to resolve. Most people keep their heads covered (with hats etc. as we don’t recommend the use of hair pieces) for about 10 days before they can go out and not worry about signs of hair surgery showing.
After the second surgery, these time frames will apply once again.
