Who is eligible to actually perform a hair restoration procedure?
There is no official form of certification for hair transplantation. So any doctor with a regular MD can perform these surgeries and exhibit as a hair restoration specialist. However, patients should seek the help of a hair restoration specialist. Being a hair restoration expert should translate to board certification in dermatology and/or plastic surgery as well as years of experience of performing hair restoration procedures

Finding a hair restoration specialist

On top of this what truly counts for quality results is experience and skill. While there is a lot of emphasis placed on how the hair transplant grafts are extracted  (e.g. Follicular Unit Extraction versus strip surgery), there are other elements that are also important. Other factors influencing the quality of hair transplant result include how the follicles are stored and handled. If this is not done properly, the grafts will not survive. The insertion of the follicles determines how natural the hair placement looks. And the way the hairline and temples are created and positioned affects the aesthetics of the outcome and how attractive the patient looks in the end.

A good hair transplant surgeon will have extensive case studies which depict successful outcomes across many types of challenges. This should be illustrated through before and after photos and even videos as well which have an audio component where patients can describe their experience in their own words.
